The pricing engine behind a ride-hailing fleet.

The problem

Pricing combined distance tiers, time-based surges, airport flat rates, and waiting and cancellation rules. Every edge case was applied by hand, with the inconsistencies that implies from one ride to the next.

The architecture

  1. 01

    Distance tiers

    progressive grid

  2. 02

    Surge

    by time slot

  3. 03

    Flat rates

    airport trips

  4. 04

    Rules

    waiting and cancellation

All pricing logic sits in an engine testable independently of the application. Changing a grid doesn't require touching the rest of the system, and a pricing mistake reproduces in a test rather than in production.
